Could be alot of things, idle mixture screw adjustment, fuel, sticking float, diaphram, carbs not synchronized, boot leak, wrong/bad plugs, barometric pressure, normal running of a 28 year old motor, etc.

Are you running it with an air filter? If so, what type? How are your other carbs jetted?

rc2 dirt filter other carbs jet by hank scott with 120 mains and 160 air and 42.5 . never touched the idle air on them.

Thats quite different than the Redline kit, plus they use different needles I believe.
May just need to do some tuning

Ya, the red line kit would not run a 120 jet. It would be a 125 0r more likely a 127.5 That configuration with the 42.5 and the 160 would be long track. I am not a fan of this carb set up.
