Title: Engine "pop"
Post by: 01MRMTransAm on July 04, 2011, 08:56:24 pm
Hey all,
Having an issue with my vacuum advance black box, occasional "popping" from the motor. It only feels like 1 cylinder. I've replaced plug wire boots, pickup, and made sure there was a good connection on the alternator wiring (there was one iffy connection), checked spark plugs for proper carb jetting and all looks good. Still having the problem, and don't know where to turn next. it is very intermittent.

Thank you in advance,
Justin

Running rich?
Have you checked the headers to see if its just one cylinder?
The carbs I built for the 01 car last year were a tad rich and would do that on occasion, but never a problem except at idle.
I prefer rich over lean

The carbs are on the rich side, but not horrible. And this is at around 9000 RPM. Should have mentioned that earlier.

Is it when your on or off the gas?
