One of the most frustrating problems when looking for parts at your local auto parts store is knowing what parts to reference against. Few parts stores have someone left that know how to reference parts. Once upon a time you could ask for a 72 Dodge truck tie rod end, and the guy behind the counter would know all the different vehicles this same part was used on. If they didn't have one listed under a 72 Dodge truck, they'd know to look under a different model/year. Now they need to know what model/year to look up the part number. There is no history left.
I'd like to build a permanent post for a thorough cross reference list. This is not intended as a bash against Legends Dealers, and not intended to take business away from them, but I'm sure you've all experienced the last minute repair that needed one part that your dealer couldn't get in time to get you back out for the next race night. If you had that reference list, you'd know what to ask for exactly and would have a much better chance finding the part.
If we all start listing the parts we know of that are available from a parts store, I'll put the list together in one comprehensive post. This will be much like the other reference list I compiled a year or two ago from all your posts. Like the last post, I'll leave your posts for a while, then remove your posts after including your info in the reference list.
This could be our most important post yet if we get the right responses. Remember to verify your posts and other posts relating to parts lists.
I'll likely break it down by section.
ie;
Brakes
Master Brake Cylinder
Front Brake Calliper
Rebuild Kit
Sliders
Slider Retainer Pins
Front Brake Pads
Rear Brake Cylinder
Rear Brake Drum
Rear Brake Shoes
Suspension
Heims
Ball Joints
Front Axle
Front Axle Hub
Front Axle Dust Caps
Front Axle Nut castle cover
Wheel Studs
Engine
Exhaust Studs
Oil Filters
Air Filters
Carburetors
Jets
Needles
You get the idea. I've seen a couple of posts already that will feed this list and will add them to it when I'm ready to compile the list. I'll turn the list into a sticky to keep it at the top. Meantime, just start replying to this post. This list will continue to grow over time and I will start compiling the list in my off season. After September races are over...
Have fun guys, and thanks in advance for your help in this.

Here is a list that I have assembled over the last two years (its posted on my website www.jeffsteenbergen.com):
Brakes:
Most cars use front and rear 76-81 Toyota Celica/Corolla
Rear ends are supposedly the same from 76-81.
Front ends have minor differences between 79 and 80.
79 and older are different then 80 and newer.
At least that's what I have dug up so far.
A question also came up about the little shims that hold the front brake pads in place. Tell them you want caliper slides for a 76-81 Supra/Celica without sensors, that should get you want you want.
Front Pads:
Performance Friction - Carbon Metallic
Label reads:
Slotless
195.28.16.4
Race Ready
PBR Metal Masters
D 247 M
Rear Shoes:
Wagner
Relined Brake Shoes
PAB407
Front Rotor:
Brembo
Label Reads:
08.3067.10
Toy 43512-14040
Master cylinder:
72 V.W. Beetle (not a super beetle)
Auto Zone 11-1559
NOPI 113 611 015 DX
Rear Wheel Brake Cylinder:
NAPA 37277 (Toyota Celica)
Ball Joints:
Moog Tie Rod End #ES2847R (Upper and Lower are the same)
Oil Filter:
Purolator ML16809 (For Factory On Engine Filter)
FRAM PH-8A, Wix #51515(r) (External Oil Filter from 600 Racing)
Rear End
Axle bearing:
GRW124R (bearing and retainer)
Axle Seal:
SKF 20433
Pinion Seal:
Carquest# SLS1176

Now that's what I'm talking about! Thanks Racinjj. This will really help the gang.
-
No problem, thats a list that I kept adding to over the years and posted it on my website for others to reference.
-
I recently ordered these and the part number came back for an oil seal.

Can you buy the front hubs aftermarket?
-
I have not found any yet.
Can usually find them used on eBay
-
Some wrecking yards as well.
Steve
-
So the only place to get them new is a legends dealer correct
-
You can try some of the auto parts stores. Usually '80's Toyota Celica, Corolla or Corona.

I may be wrong, but I believe the ones USLC sells are used or "recycled".
In 8 years of selling parts for Legends cars, I have not found a NEW hub assembly available
-
What year and car can I find the gears out of? Please email me at zrodsgraphics@gmail.com
-
Info is listed right here on the site:

Hi,
Does anyone have a part number for the top/bottom front ball joint rubber dust boots?
Thanks, Jason
-
The dust boots are part of the ball joints. If the rubber is shot, most likely that the ball joint needs replaced anyway. Just out of habit, I would replace them on a yearly basis.

Thanks Steve.
-
Does anyone have the part # for auto parts Store for a legend front wheel hub assembly? TY
-
Entire front spindle assembly is from a 76-81 Toyota Corolla or Celica. Sorry do not have an exact part number, but I would think a good part store should be able to help you with that information.

Alright, I am going to rework this thread and update with all parts numbers I know of. Anyone that wants to pitch in and help out; GREAT! I am not looking for dealers; Just parts numbers from the various parts stores (Auto Zone, O'Rielly's, NAPA, Etc...). Things like brake rotors, Toyota brake calipers, Brake master cylinder, Fuel pumps, rear end bearings, etc... Feel free to PM me with whatever numbers and parts stores; Or just post on this thread and I will get started on the updates. Thank You for any inut!

This is a great idea. I have just got into a legends car about 3 months ago and I have been to the parts stores 3 or 4 times and ran into the same problem. You tell them you are looking for a part that fits a legends race car and they look at you like you are an idiot. I would be more than happy to help compile this list or do anything to help. Just let me know if I can do anything.
-
A lot of these parts numbers have been replaced with new numbers. But, for the most part, will give you at least a cross reference#. It would be nice to update the list! Just let me know what you find, and I will update the list to reflect the changes.
