Title: Longacre camber/caster gauge question
Post by: DMcGrew on August 18, 2007, 07:29:38 pm
Im looking at the longacre camber gauge. I see there is one that has a magnetic adapter and then there's one without an adapter which I'd also need to get the Legends car adapter with. Question is will the magnetic one work?

Thanks

Yes it will work fine, also a lot quicker to install and move from one side of the car to the other side, just make sure you have no bures where the magnet makes contact.

I use a digital angle finder called a "Smart Tool" to set my caster and camber.  I get my camber figure off the back of the brake rotor, and I get my caster reading off the front flat section of the spindle.  You have to subtract the reading you get from 90° to get your setting.  But it is accurate to  a tenth of a degree.  Most of the adjustments move 2 tenths of a degree for each half of a turn on one end of the A arm adjustment rods.

Remember, always set caster, then camber, then toe.

Tom,
I've been thinking of getting one of the Smart Tools, how about doing a  "How To" with pics to show us your method?

Regards,
Al

Dang, I wish I read your request a little while ago.  I had the front fenders off and could have done it then.  It is pretty simple though.  Next time I have the fenders off, I'll do it.
