Greetings to all from Montana. Just curious if anyone has or knows of people with a Legends racecar turned into a street rod. Go to Facebook. Search for Legends Street Rod . Click to join group. We have finally finished our street rod project and are enjoying the heck out of it.

We had a legend car as a pace car at one of our races last year, Street legal, tags lights . I talked to the gentleman and It took him about 6 months, to pass final inspection.

this one is kinda old, but here you go. http://thekneeslider.com/a-street-legal-motorcycle-powered-legends-race-car/

There are three I know of here in Ohio, they have been tiltled I believe as home made vehicles and are 100% street legal.

I attempted such in New York State. I tried to register it as a homemade vehicle. The DMV HQ told me the car was to small. I did research and called back and told them the legends car was 17 inches longer than a smart car and 1/2 inch narrower. They told me that the smart car was crash tested and my legends car was not. They told me that if I wanted to spend $400,000 and have it crash tested and it passed they would do it. They also stated that if my car had 3 wheels, it could easily be registered as a trike.

Daren,
Where you located in MT. ?
I live just outside Great Falls.
I have seen a few Legends Cars made street legal over the years. None here in MT.
Laws vary from state to state as how you can register them. Montana is one of the easier states to register homemade vehicles.
Then again, we only have about 1 million people in the whole state and a ton of space in between cities. lol!
Message me.

I ran the car on the highway the other day. I will definitly have to change the rearend gears. 65 mph @ 7000 rpm. Any suggestions on what I should run for street use? Keep in mind this is no longer used for racing. Thanks.

What gear do you have in it now?

not sure of the ratio offhand, but the roadrace guys run a 2.90 or something like that

2.50 and 2.93 seem to be the preferred gears for road racers. I wouldn't lock the rear end though for street use.

I believe the gears in it currently are 330. I don't want or need a ton of rpm.
Just created a Facebook page for the car. Search for - Legends Street rod . click to join

Have any of you seen a car with upholstery? If so what materials did they use and how was it attached to the frame tubes?
-
Dennis,
I moved this thread from the race car threads. Dated 2013. This guy is up here in Montana and has a couple of YouTube videos posted.
Anyway, they do make upholstered pads that fit on the doors. They are a bit pricey for what you are doing. You can make your own, or have someone sew up some covers. They attach with snaps. Pretty easy to do, actually.
