Title: Brake reservoir
Post by: Legend79 on April 08, 2012, 03:34:09 am
I ran some practice laps at race speed the other day, blocks of 20. When I came off on the last run, there was smoke coming of the engine and it looked like fluid had sprayed from the brake reservoir, the lid was on tight and the brakes had been bled with new fluid, the only thing I had done differently was run the car with no bias to the back, ive had the car 3 years and this has never happened before, any ideas? I run on asphalt if that makes any difference

There is a breather hole on the cap. We usually run a rag over it to keep fluid from coming out

Here is an old thread on that very subject.

I think he was talking about the brake reservoir not the clutch reservoir. Unless I'm missing something. This happened to me not to long ago usually means the brake fluid was filled to high and it is getting pushed out of the cap.

Drop the level to 1/2 to 2/3 and you should not see any leakage.

No worries, just thought you may have flipped flopped it and didn't want to get  him confused ;D

Cheers guys, I think it was over filled as on a second look the fluid level was down and after today's races I can't see anymore loss and the top of the bottle was dry, well dry as it could be as it rained all meeting! Brakes were fine though, maybe worth putting something over the cap though just incase!
