I think I will be posting a question or two everyday !! I have just bought my first race car and have many question . First how can I tell if my chassis is a up dated one, can I use any kind of seat, what size socket fits the nut on the drive shaft adapter to the motor and I guess it is a thin wall, where can I get one. Does anyone know the best place to buy a few different size valve shims or maybe a shim kit. Well that will get me started Thanks John

Hello and welcome to the sport,
As for the frame, E-mail Lisa Will at 600 racing with the frame tag number and she can tell you the history of the frame. You will have to send her the paper work to get the title transferred into you name.
Seats, Really any factory made alu. racing seat will do. You can go to 600 racing web site and read up on the rule book.

GOOD PEOPLE, GOOD INPUT, GOOD INFO........... ENJOY!
Rules:

Frame:
I think Dave (thunder938) gave the best advice. Get the history on your car.
Seats:
I have a 600 seat. I've added a few extras to it. Kirkey, Butler Built; I like both. Check out the threads on safety equipment, might give you some ideas.
Tools:
For the most part, Think Metric. ALL my tools are Craftman (with very few excetions). Sears is my tool store of choice.
Questions:
Ask Away! Lots of very friendly and helpful people here.
Lots of great info in the old threads. Take time to check them out.
Post a bit about yourself in the Introduction Section. Inquiring Minds Want To Know! LOL!!!! ;)
Seriously, might be better able to help if people know where your at.
Hope some of my ramblings have helped.
Best Of Luck!

Get you a Craftsman 1/2" drive 36mm socket and you will be in business.

Thanks guys I did email Lisa before I bought it and now just yesterday asking about the frame and the numbers. I am slowly taking the car apart to learn all I can about it and I sure I will be asking a whole lot more but thanks so far John

For your question about the socket for the drive shaft, I had to have one milled down so it would fit. Good luck finding one.

The 36mm Craftsman socket will fit with no machine work. Valve shims can be purchased from some dealers or get a catalog from Goodson, Tools and Supplies for Engine Builders, they have a large selection of 25mm shims. www.goodson.com

The 36 mm socket worked great I also thought I would have to have a thin wall or something made but you called it Thanks
