Title: Exhausts
Post by: DanH on August 12, 2008, 04:41:53 pm
Right i know there are two different types of exhausts but what are the differences between the two?

We have to run silencers in the UK so is it the same over the pond?

Next year the Borla is going to be mandatory.

So the standard exhaust offered by 600 racing is not going to be used anymore?

Looks like we are going to have to go to a bigger silencer than we run this year to keep the noise down.

The SS unit will no longer be an option; But 600 Racing will still sell the Bola muffler (silencer).
The Borla unit is supposed to perform better. I don't know, as I have not tried either one.
Not sure if the Supertrap muffler is an option for you. It is tuneable though by changing the number of discs used in the system.

We will end up running a spec silencer. Just we need a new header and pipe to the silencer over the winter and was looking what was the best option.

Dan,
If you have to go with a mandatory silencer; Why not just go ahead and make the switch now?
Good of a time as any! Might save you money in the long run.

The other option is the Bliss Race Engineering (BRE) box muffler. This is a INEX approved muffler and comes with the INEX stamping. It fits under the left running board, and makes the car sound like a street bike. We run several endurance road races a year that go into nightfall, and the decibel reading(s) have never been an issue. The muffler is designed to not hinder performance and they offer documentation of the differing horsepower values by all INEX approved header/muffler systems.
