Should the brown wire have juice to it after the motor is started?

easiest way to test if you have it hooked up right or not is start the motor and shut it off.  if it keeps running switch the alternator wires around

As Randy pointed out, I believe the brown wire does have continual power.
Also, Jeremy made the point that if it keeps running when switched off.
Usually (in some of my past race cars) the brown wire is hooked to the wrong terminal on the solenoid.
