Title: Winterizing a Legends Car

Probably getting a little ahead of myself (I still need to get the modified sold and actually buy a Legends car), but once all of that happens, what needs to be done to winterize the motor for the off season?  With the modified I would put some Marvel Mystery Oil in the cyliders through the sparkplug holes and drain the fuel cell.  Anything else specific to these cars?

I blew mine up so I wouldn't have to worry about winterizing it. I would think that the same procedure would work that you used for your modified but I would also drain the fuel from the carbs.

John,
 I have to agree with Geoff.
Drain the fuel system; tank, carb bowls, lines. That mystery oil is still a mystery to me - but it works great! When I raced mods- at the begining of the season I always changed oil, filter (or cleaned screens), cleaned fuel filter (also screens), Fresh fuel, tune up, etc... Do whatever you can to minimize corrosion and wear.

John,

Here's what I'll be doing.

1. Change oil.
2. Clean car, front to back..top to bottom.
3. Fill fuel cell with fresh gas , add correct amount of Stabil Fuel Stabilizer to the gas. In the spring drain fuel cell and use the gas for the lawn mowers.
4. Run engine until I feel the Stabilizer fuel is in the carbs.
5. Remove battery.
6. To take the weight off the suspension I'll put safety jacks at all four corners of the frame.

Some guys also use the Stabil Fogging Oil in the engine but I don't have a moisture problem in my shop so I won't be using this.

I'm not in favor of draning the fuel cell, you could end up with moister in the cell......running the carbs dry could also cause you problems.
