My fuel pump was making a funny noise when I turned the on switch on and my car will not start. The noise as stopped and the pump is not pumping. I have purchased a new pump and the new one does not work as well. I am getting power to the pump. Is the pump suppose to turn on automatically when the on switch is on? Thanks for the help

The fuel pump is wired into the ignition swith, so it will run until it builds pressure when the switch is flipped on.

Did you try the ground?

I am struggling on this one.....i hope I am over looking something easy. Yes I checked the ground. I have 12v back to the pump. When I wire the pump the voltage drops to 8v. Any suggestions???

...and that is why they stopped mandating the fuel cut off switch

Yep, keep it simple.

I have heard of those fuel cut-offs taking out the Red Box also. Not good.
