Title: Can I run a 3.33 gear at 3.42 suggested track?
Post by: ZForceRacing01 on November 04, 2014, 04:32:55 pm
My car was last run @ Wake county in Raleigh, NC and has 3.33's. I plan to run Concord's 1/4 mile which is a 3.42 suggest track.

As a rookie getting started those gears are an added expense I am not looking forward too. Do you think I can run the 3.33's and still hang with the field or will they just eat me up off the corner?

Not familiar with either track or asphalt racing in Legends, but in a purely numbers sense, there theoretically shouldn't be a big difference, especially as you are learning to drive the car.
3.33 in 4th is a final drive of 4.30
3.42 in 4th is a final drive of 4.42

They will pull you hard off the corner. I really don't think you can keep up with that gear. Sorry to be the voice of bad news.

You will get killed off the corner. You could possibly trade with a couple of shops around Charlotte?  And I'm pretty sure that you run in 3rd gear at concord.

Gear is 3.42 in 3rd at concord. As mentioned above, you will get killed off the turns there with a 3.33.

4.10 in 4th is in the middle of the two.  if you are rolling real good give the 4.10 a try.
My track is a 3.42 in 3rd suggested track.  started hitting chip hard and went to 4.10 ran faster and would still chip.
I agree with the others posted the .33 is to much you will not get the pull to keep up center off.

I have an extra 3.42 and would be willing to trade it to you for the 3.33. I am located in the High Point, NC area. If you are interested send me a DM.

The really fast cars are hitting the chip at concord with the 3.42. I went there for my first race with a 3.42 and was running a little under half a second off the pole speed and never touched the limiter.

I will probably keep my 3.33 and purchase a 3.42 when I have the money. One day I may want to run Charlotte and will need that 3.33.

I thought that they ran a 3:42 at Charlotte.

Any way I have an extra 3:30 (welded) that I would trade for a 3:42
