How many races before rebuild?

Shawn,

typically you can get 30ish before you start really losing power. Dependablity starts going down after about 45.

Of course, you could end up rebuilding it, and break a rod inthe first race, so there are no guarentees.

30 ish hmmm I have 30 on mine it runs better now than when it had 10 races on it,  I would say keep an eye on the compression levels and keep notes when you see them get to the 150's it may be time, remember to test the engine warm and with wide open throttle.

I did a leak down test and was leaking 35% on one cylinder. So I did a valve job. Now I'm waiting on the tool to change the valve shims. What is everyone running for valve clearences?

shawn,

the clearances should be:

intake: .0043-.0059 inches (.11-.15 mm)

exhaust: .0063-.0079 inches (.16-.20 mm)

What are your valves at now? If they are close, come to the track Saturday and we can adjust them there. I have the tool.
