Is there a difference between the lightweight bassett and lightweight aero? (Offset weight etc?)

The biggest thing is the weight but they did loss durability when they lost the weight too.

Are both the "lightweight" aero and "lightweight" basset the same regarding weight?

I do believe that they are both with in a few ounces of each other. I run the aero's so I haven't really weight the bassett. I do know that you can feel the difference from the old heavy ones. They really feel light if you mount a dirt tire on them....

Thank you Scott my car came with light weight Bassetts all the way around just wondering if there was a reason to switch to aero I see a lot of the national guys running them

The offset is different. That's why you see a lot of cars with a Bassett R.R. wheel and the other three are Aero.

You can buy Bassett or dang near any wheel in whatever offset you want.
What INEX does not allow is wheel spacers.

I know there is variation in the manufacturing process, thus the 1/4" tolerance factor in the rules.
What are they allowing Aero that is different than Bassett that is not in the rulebook?
2015 INEX rulebook:
76. WHEELS: Any type of automotive steel wheel that has a 13” diameter, a 7” width and the offset of 3” to 3 1/4” from back rim edge to back of wheel center is permitted. The minimum weight of a Federal tire and standard wheel must be at least 31.0 pounds. The minimum weight of an Aero or Bassett (INEX stamped and stickered ONLY) wheel and tire must be at least 28.0 pounds.

Aero wheels are 3 1/4" offset and thus fall within the rule book as you stated. Jim, measure the offset on one of your Bassett wheels and let us know the offset. I believe it varies by 1/8".

I just measured two of my bassetts and both were right at 3"

as Just freaky said, you can get different offsets, yes. BUT if you want the lightweight wheels, they need to be the ones USLC sells, therefore in order to play around with this as a setup item, you only have 2 choices. As Dennis said, most guys are running bassett on RR for the offset.

We used to have wheels made by a reputable manufacturer, they would send us a batch a minimum and a batch at maximum. Now that the lightweight are preferred and have to be purchased through USLC it doesn't pay to stock them.
