Title: Cobalt brake pads- toyota brakes
Post by: Jason Treschl Racing on October 10, 2016, 09:12:14 am
To anyone running the stock toyota front brakes, what pads are you using, or do you have any recomendations? I'm currently using the cobalt xr5 pads, but I feel like there is too fine of a line between locking up the front brakes or not even with a bias adjuster on the left front.

This is asphalt oval, typically flat 1/4 miles.

Hi Jason,

Most have been switching over to the Wilwood calipers and pads. I am hopeful that Randy or Jim will jump in and give you other pad options for the Toyota brakes.

For toyota calipers, oval track racing we use these two frictions. You really need to make sure the rear is functioning as good as possible (and not loosen the car up too much) to have effective braking.

I run a 3/8 mile track regularly. For 3/8 mile and up The Wilwoods are great. But I have ran some 1/4 tracks and they heat up to quick and I don't feel like I have conistent brakes or enough brakes.

Its weird your locking up with a Cobalt 5 pad, most run Cobalt 4's which has more grip than your 5's.
