I'm looking forward to some great result from Tristan this year. His new engine and the LegendsRacer decals should make his car much faster.  ;D
Seriously, Both Tristan and Chance have been a big help to our Bando section her on LegendsRacer.
I look forward to seeing progress from both teams.

Best Of Luck Guys!!!

News from 61 Racing bunch doesn't sound good. Wednesday night at practice, Tristan got clipped in the rear by a new driver and went for a roll (or 3 or 4). Ouch!!!
Tristan seems to be OK. At least he hasn't said otherwise. I will update as I know more, or maybe he will post.
Sounds like the car will need quite a bit of work to get it race ready again. They are looking at another car, so may be back up and running soon.

I hear Tristan is fine but the car is not

Yeah, he told me the rear axle is bent, broken spindle, windshield is broken and quite a bit of body damage. They haven't checked the frame yet but are expecting it to be pretty bad. They have located another car, and may just buy that.

We are basically all good now. The frame wasnt really bent. We replaced every thing now.
Those G-force seat belts i just bought really helped.

Stay clear of the rookie!  :o ;D

Seriously, Chance thanks! The old belts were not as wide and probably would have hurt my shoulders. The G-force belts held me right in.

Chance,

Do you have your gearing problem figured out?
4th is an ok finish. At least you got everything home in one piece.  ;)  :o  :o  :o  ;D
Want to see you back out front!

Tristan had another bad night. Here's what he sent me:

Got in another bang up at Rockford......Another car and I were racing really hard, both fish tailling all the way around the track; and then, coming out of turn 4, we touched and she was on the inside of me. It made her turn straight for the wall and she hit it with the left side. I hit her with my left side. It bent the spindle, axle, and left nerf bar.

Started out bad for us on Friday night....

During the first practice the hose on the fule cell breather came off (my fault, didn't check the hose clamp it it was obviously loose) and threw fuel under our right rear tire in turn 2, causing us to spin and then get collected.....Damaging the front end and bending a rim....We fixed the front end but had not identified the line issue yet, but luckily we decided to pack up and head home for the night and come back Saturday.

Saturday was not much better at the start.....We found and fixed the fuel vent hose issue, but with the hit the car was still loose and with the carb work I did, we were not 100% yet.....I actually had a hunch about 5 minutes before the main about the engine, and my nephew had one about the set-up and we took a swing and made both changes.

Anyone racing with a restrictor plate knows, starting position is everything, and because of the issues we were starting at the back so we have a tough road to how ahead for any type of quality finish.  But the changes worked really well for us, we picked up over .4 of a second over our qualifying speed and the car was a rocket out of turn 4.....It was a race of taking an outside line for 13 of 15 laps which is tough.....but he brought home a 6th place and ran a fast time that was faster than 3 of the 6 cars ahead of him....so it is getting there!!!! ;D

Sounds like the changes you made were a big help. Hope you got the fuel line issues sorted out. Always a bad situation to be spewing fuel all over.
I hope you have better luck next week.

Ya, it wasnt his fault....this kid has the fastest car on the track and goes out and flo0rs it. He spun out once and Chance and I barely made it by. Then it was a whole race restart and he spun out again. This time I barely made it by and Chance didn't have any where to go and hit him.

This was posted on the Indy Speedrome site from Friday night:

"The INEX Bandolero brigade headed into tonight’s battle hoping to de-rail the hottest driver in the class, Paul Fusco. But first, the young stars had feature prelude testers. Heat one had Illinois ace Tristan Batson victorious over James Kirby and Zach Freeman. The second heat saw point leader Jack Dossey III besting Fusco and Dillion Brown for the win. Batson would lead the main event in the early stages looking for his first Speedrome victory. Fusco caught him just in the final third of the 20-lap contest and passed him for his third straight win. Tristan would finish second followed in the results by Brown, Dossey, and Chris Hacker."

Great Job guys!!!

Tristan finished 5th, after a wreck on Saturday, at Kentucky Speedway. A great come back on Sunday with a 2nd place finish there!

I heard that Paul had started running a legends car, but have not heard much about it. Would like to see his results from those experiences.
Have not seen Paul on here too much this year.

Didn't know if Paul went to KY. Just heard from Tristan about Indy.
Do you know how Paul is doing with his legends car?

If Paul was racing a legends I can tell you he didn't win both legends races at KY this weekend.  In fact I don't think a Paul won any of the Legends races this weekend.
Do you know what car he drives?

Gerad,

Paul Fusco has been on a roll in his Bando car this year. I misunderstood and thought he might have raced the Legends car at KY this past weekend. Perhaps I was wrong. I do not know what his car number is on the legends. The Kentucky Speedway site does not list bando and legends results.  ??? ??? ???

Justoke, Congrats of the first win!!  Some of are still working on that elusive first win.

Justfreaky, you can check the finishes for all of the FASTMidwest races at (www.fastmidwest.com) however our race director takes a little while to get the results posted for each of our events.  We usually get them within two weeks of the race.

You can see all the other results though.  Right now it shows Paul 5th in points.

Gerad,

Thanks for the link! Didn't have that one in my bookmarks.

Paul has been having a Great Season in his Bando car! Have not heard any news about his Legends car though.
Tristan has had some rough races at KY. Still hanging in there though!  ;)

I see that Tatman, Miller and Linley are working hard for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Legends Semi-Pro points.
Will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Justoke,

Congratulations to your son!!!!
Always lots of fun to get that first win!  ;)
I hope that he will have many more!!!

Well my son did great again!! 3rd in the heat, 1st in the trophy dash and 3rd in the main!! Not too bad for the fifth race. He was asked to join 4 others to drive a Legends
car. We were back at the track on Sunday. He took to it quickly. The gentleman who was doing this let him take it on the track! Only 2 boys got to do this!! A fast Legends at our track runs 14.9 to 15.2. After lap 10 he must have felt comfortable because he was turning 15.8-16.2! He amazes me sometimes!!

Kids have no fear! Have members who's kids had broken arms and/ or legs from motorcycle crashes. They get right back out there as soon as they can!
Us old folks (LOL!) have to think things through too much.

Hi, all -

We went to Raceway Park, Shakopee, Friday night. Got to meet bando drivers Kyle Hansen (#22), Jared Duda (#53), and Donovan Michaud (#24). Kyle has done karts, quarter midgets, bandos, and legends, and will be moving full time to legends next season. A great time was had by all. We now have (2) possible used cars to look at (one local, one in IL), a wonderful supporter here at Raceway (Jim Duda, Prestige Plumbing), a better chance to get Ted into a test run, etc etc etc.

We are EXCITED!

Kathy (mom, mgr)
Ted (driver)
Kevin (dad, mechanic)

Hey, everybody!

Well, here it is October. We tried to get a bando test drive here in Minnesota all summer and into the fall. Just never came together. So, the new plan is to go someplace WARM over the winter, and visit a track where they run bandos year-round (or nearly). If anyone can give me the names/links for tracks that do this, please please please do!

In happier news, we decided to bridge the gap by taking Ted to indoor carting. He did his 'school' last weekend, and had a FABULOUS time! Said he felt like this was the 'jumping off point for the rest of my life!'. Well, then!

One more thing... we are trying to sell our pop-up camper (great shape, sleeps nine) to finance the bando. No luck, yet. We would be willing to trade, if it comes to that.

Happy evening!
Kathy H.

Hi Kathy,

I'm glad Ted is enjoying the go karts. Let me know how he does in the league. As far as schools and/ or Bando test drives, contact Ed at Bandostuff.com. He said he would be more than happy to talk with you about dates and such.

Take Care,

At least for now, Ted can get some seat time and racing experience in the karts. Also, You will be able to better judge how he is doing and if it will be something that he truly will enjoy.

Best Wishes!
