Our season has just finished up.  We are a little backwards....or forward depending on how you look at it.  We started a bit slow at the begenning of the season but finished up better.

Is that air i see under the left front tire in the pic?
Title: Re: Race season is starting
Post by: bandostuff.com on May 01, 2009, 09:38:08 am
Thanks Chance.  Up close it's starting to look like a war wagon due to a few repairs,  but thats the way it goes.

That is air.  We went to stronger rear springs after seeing this photo and picked up some speed through the corners.  If you look close at the second car there is almost air under the right rear,  a go-kart kind of thing.  The road courses were big fun and helped Kyle's driving all around.  Also it is a chance to learn brake control!

My season was supposed to start today, but  was canceled because of seepage in the track.

I raced Saturday and Sunday. Did great Saturday, but came up a little short.
Sunday was horrible!!!  Blew the engine after 2 laps of practice. Was lucky enough to get a new one, then had to work it in. Still a lot to fix on the new engine, but I still got 2nd in the feature.

Ya, Chance did pretty good I thought! I was racing, but in 4th the whole time. Had a lot of oil problems. One race, I was right on someones bumper the whole race and he kept blocking me. The last lap coming off of turn 4 I passed him as the checkered flag was swinging over us! I came in 3rd that time.  :(  Oh well, It was a good race though!

Chance,

Sorry to hear about the bad luck with the engine. You were lucky to find one to get you back in line.
2nd in the feature with an unknown engine.... Not Bad!

I heard that you, dad, and some of the other racers, helped Tristan this weekend.
Good on you all!!!

I hope next race day goes much better for you!!!

I guess this has become our official "How You Doing" thread for the Bando folks. (hence the sticky. At least until next season.)
You deserve all your own space!

News from our newest member, bandorcn7:
(Illiana)
"Saturday night, I won on the last lap. The guy in second went in way too hard and smashed the side of me, then spun. I didn't get much damage,  just 1  scratch on the bottom and 1 on the side, but I still won!"

Our friend Tristan (ruracin61) finished 2nd. Sounds like he had a chance to go for a win.
Way To Go Tristan!!!

Now I expect  you both will post your own results. Because, from now on, I will only post embarrassing stuff.  :D ;D

Great Job Guys!!!

Not to bad a day. After some contact Brad was able to come home with an 8th place finish. The car is still in one piece it just has a bent spindle. Toed in over an inch. He did well to maintain an 8th place.

Another great night of racing for Brad in the Bandolero. Going for the lead in his heat race he spun out all by himself with no further contact. In his feature race he finished 6th place out of ten cars while scrubbing in a set of tires. The car is in one piece and I am trying for a track night to improve on the car and his confidence in the car. Hoping for a heat win next week.

We were out with the Bando again on Friday night. Not such a great night. The car is horrible, extremelly tight coming off the corner. Took some wedge out and made it tighter ???. Kinda has me baffled right now. Came home with an 11 place finish and stripped a drive sprocket coming off of turn 2 on the white flag lap. Car is still in one piece.

Geoff,

Sounding like the way to go is the go kart approach (more or less sliding through the turns).

We spent the night at the track last night. We now have a better car but it is still off. I cannot make the car drive as well as the boy. I am looking for some setup help if anyone is interested in sharing with me. We run a flat track and I cannot get the car to turn from the center off. Any ideas?? I cannot wait until he car run legends ;).

Had a good night on Friday. Brad was away to a football camp so I filled the seat with a 15 year old go kart racer. It was the only way to get a kid of similar size  ;). With a few practice laps and a little coaching we got him up to speed with a couple of adjustments (3rd in the heat and 5th in the feature). This confirmed my thoughts on the problems we have been having. The car is fine the problem is with my driver. The line he is running on the track is making the car look tight to me and he is not properly relating the information to me. Thankfully I know where to go now and what I need to help him with more. We will have this problem sorted out, thanks to those who tried to help.

Well went to Illiana for my first time the engine was slow but it is a slow track I started 2nd and took the lead because the pole sitter lost a chane. But i am new at this track so i drove it in to hard into turn 3 and spune out of turn 4. I restarted 4th and got a great jump and out of  turn to i was 2nd i got the lead a lap later and pulled away to win at Illiana my first try. I am putting a video on youtube will put the link on when its done.

Then went to the fast high banks of grundy and was slow in practice and in the heat my engine lost horse power and smoke was blowing out the catch can. If any one knows what it might be plz tell me

Satureday good Sunday very very bad

We are very consistant at the summer shootout, 3 weeks in a row on the wrecker in the bando. It doesn't matter if we are in the front or the back same result. As long as he want's to do it I will keep on fixing it. Maybe next year will be better at the shootout

I had a bad Weekend my car was to tight saturday and i could hardly drive it but got 3rd out of it
The bad day was sunday I was running good in the heat going for 3rd on lap 2 when i went high i hit somthing and all i remmember was the right rear lifted off the ground spun around and because i was running high i smacked the wall at about 65 mph I hit the wall and because the tracks old the walls are like waves so I bonced off them then went by the entrence to the track and hit the wal 1 more time and stoped.  I had to get in the ambulinse and get taken off the track.(That was my first time in one they are not very fun) Thank god for the great safty stuff I have a brused knee but thats all.

The car not as lucky. When I saw the car at first I thought my season was over. But when we got home and looked at the damege we should get it fixed In a week or 2. The spring holder was broken off on the left side and the left fron steering stuff was all broken. Bumpers were bent and the chain gard was bent. (Will have to call ED)LOL

I am stiff today but will be fine,
Well thats my weekend hope all your were better,
Chance

We had another destructive weekend. Friday night he took the lead on the first lap and then started to get loose and hit the wall  on lap 6. Everything on the right front suspension was broken, bent axle, bent brake disk, two rims and tires. He was so excited about leading. We were able to get it pieced back together and was able to race Saturday and finished 3rd.

Is there any truth to green being bad luck on race cars. Must be, first round of practice was passing a car on the backstretch and got turned into the wall, everything on the left rear destroyed including the rear clip. Was able to change everything  and get him back for the feature, finished 5th. Going to switch back to the other frame that was just reclipped Saturday and put back on the blue body

Had a better night last night, started 4th made it to 2nd in the first turn, spun trying to take the lead half way and had to go to the rear. Made it back to 2nd place with a 8 car field. Also we were running our blue car. Maybe something about the green myth is true
