Any one know any info on these??
« on: January 09, 2009, 01:11:43 pm »
anyone know or hear anything on the 2 new neck restraints??

The Leatt Brace??  Deosn't look like it goes under your seatbelts??       http://www.leatt-brace.com/index.php?page_id=16&msg_id=74&id=3#74

Or

The Defnder??  Lighter cheaper more comfortable then the Hans.     http://www.circletrack.com/safety/ctrp_0901_defnder_team_issue_hnr/photo_01.html

Looking at both for this coming yr.

Hey thanks for the info.  I'm not too keen on that setup either.  I'll have to try and learn more on the Defnder.

The Leatt Brace looks like something you would wear after the injury. :)  Can't imagine getting in and out of the car in that.

I did a Google search on the Defnder and found a few things.  Sounds pretty promising and appears to handle side impacts better than most.  It got an SFI approval.

The Leatt Brace is way too big, I do like the look of the Defnder.  I dont know about you guys but I have a hard time getting in and out now ( 6foot 3 at 250 lbs) I think some of these braces are too big..

I'm liking the look of the defnder.  May go that way myself, but not til next year.  I'll use the g-force for this year since I bought it, and haven't yet used it.  I'm a little claustrophobic and to be honest, any of those head restraints make me feel tense just looking at them.

I'm tall in the body and a wee bit large... so can't wear the hans and climb into the car.  I'm sure I could get it on once in.  Right now I have a hard time climbing in with my helmet on, so put it on once sitting in the car.  That's a bit tricky too, since I'm close to the roll bars with my seat scootched forward a fair ways.

I'll just have to get over the willies on a restraint and get it setup this spring.  I intend to be more aggressive this year so will likely need it.

Mike
If it isn't fun, why are you doing it?

I havent tried one yet, but after last years wreck, which Im still feeling the effects of, I'm definately getting something this year. Was going to go with a HANS, but I'll check out the defNder...even if its a dumb name...and why is it cool to mis-spell stuff...never understood that...ignorance is not cool...and the extreme thing, why is everything extreme now?...theres a home improvement place in town called X-Treme contractors...so thats doubly annoying, exteme and spelled wrong...I dont care how good they are, I'd never hire them because they hit 2 of my pet peeves at the same time!...sorry, STEVE!!! Hey STEVE!!! Im off topic!

Jim,
I actually had requested that info too!  A few weeks ago and have not gotten anything yet.  I read some place they are being suied by Hans for infringment too.  I thought maybe thats why I had not gotten anything.  I like the look and function of that device too.

I think the leate brace is more for the motorcycle and kart guys???

They posted on their new site that they did not get a lot of requests that came through on the old site.  That would probably explain why you never heard back from them.

When considering a HANS don't forget the Sport Series.  It offers the same protection as all other HANS models but weighs slightly more.  Instead of carbon fiber construction it is made of an injected resin similar to a bowling ball.  If turning your head is a problem HANS now has a "sliding tether" that allow you to turn your head much further than the standard tether.

We are a HANS authorized dealer and sell the Sport Series HANS for $695.00 it fits neck sizes 13 1/2" - 17"

A child size is available for &595.00 it fits neck sizes 11" - 13 1/2"
