Information from Hank Scott, not me. My builder confirmed the same, that it will change the torque curve, and actually be better in the high end of the rev spectrum, which won't change much because of the rev-limiters...biggest detriment would be to the road racers who use the low end-torque, followed by asphalt guys...on dirt we're off the gas less, so the change wont affect performance much after you have the modifications done. For those of you with a problem with me, dont worry, these aren't my words. To the rest of you, good luck on the 2008 season. :
"at 165, the loss
for example over a std legal HSR 1200 was
Peak 9000 rpm 146.6
Max torque at 7100 rpm of 92.96 Pounds, HP at 7100 125.7
After cams changed and 165 across the board
Peak at 9000 RPM 140.5
Max torque at 7800 85.46 pds at 126.9
For example where it used to make 92.96 pds of torque at 7100,
it nows makes 84.69 pds of torque and 114.4 HP a loss of 11 HP
and almost 8 foot pds of torque. This mtr makes about the same as the
best sealed engine I have dynoed as far as peak now, but as far as
Torque goes, they are in the 89 to 90 pd range. If they wanted to be
fair, they should have made it 170 to 175.
You have lost a huge amount of Torque, and now will have to turn you
mtr more to get off the corner. They intented to get you and have. 600
Racing, well done! mission accomplised"
