Question on handling of car
« on: May 29, 2017, 10:29:54 pm »
I am new to legend racing and raced this weekend on asphalt.  I was running great for about 15 laps and then all of a sudden I could not steer the car and went off track.  It pushed me from the inside to outside of track and no matter if I turned the wheel or not it would not respond.  I was running 48.5% cross weight with 15 in the left tires and 25 in the rt.  Any idea on why all of a sudden it would not respond.  It happened to me in qualifying and then in the main.  Any help is very much appreciated. `

Kris,
Are you saying that the car is pushing really bad? Or are you saying it is a mechanical problem?

If a mechanical issue:
I would check the steering system first. Look for worn, bent or broken parts.
Check the front suspension for binding, bent shocks, bent, broken or worn parts.
Check the rear end for binding, bent shocks, bent, broken or worn parts.

If a handling problem:
Then you need to look at your set up.

I would definitely check for binding in the suspension. A lot of people run the RF lower control arm very close to the shock tower, check to make sure it isn't able to hit it maybe.

Thanks for the responses.......

I dont think it is a mechanical issue, the car is pretty much brand new.  If it was a mechanical issue, I would think it would not like it on the first couple laps.  I will need to check and see if there is binding of some sort?  Could it be cross weight?  I was 48.6% with me in the car.

You could add some cross weight. 48.6% seems a bit low to me. Just my thinking though.
I sent you a PM.

Thanks, I will look at the cross weight as well and see where I am at again.

Lower you cross to 47.5% and see what it does. Your car should get looser as the race goes on, because your loosing rear weight from burning fuel. Also think to yourself, were you overdriving the corner? I do that.
