Fenders
« on: March 07, 2008, 09:02:13 pm »
Does anyone have any suggestions for the height of mounting your fenders?  I am putting new ones on my car.  I put the car on the ground with the ride heights set.  The back is not bad as on the 34 Ford Sedan there is a body line which I am usre you line the fender up with.  The fronts I thought I had them in a good spot based on the front grill but when I lower the car they seem a bith high to me.

Higher the better on dirt, gives more clearance for when the mud sticks and travel over the ruts the street stockers left for us to battle, cant say anything about asphalt though.

Jim,
You gotta be sure to show off that lime green paint! Want to see that!!!

RB,
I don't know what the rules allow; but would experiment with where they Look Good. On dirt - I would probably run them just a bit higher. On Pavement - low enough to allow good clearence. I DO like that low stance in the front! JMHO
Could you post pic of where you are at now? Maybe that would give us a better idea where your at.

the rules don't really say anything about the height of mounting the fenders.  I am just wondering what guys have used for body lines or what.  The new fenders don't have as much of a lip where they connect to the trim on the gill.

I run mine about 2 inches above the frame rail at the front.  This keeps the fender about an inch and a half to two inches of the tires.

Thanks Geoff.  What part of the fender are you measuring from?  The very bottom of the curve in the front?

I think you should run those rear fenders real high in the back and low in the front...  Kinda like side spoilers...

Come on, you can see it, can't you? ;D

You're going to need that extra traction since you insist on running so light.  Myself...  I'm going for more weight so I have the traction advantage.  Let's face it Ricky Bobby, those motors have plenty of power to break traction, so my hefty weight is an advantage over your girlish figure!

Hey Ricky, bought my paint today...  Y'all ain't gonna be the only brother with a fine looking car...

there is a fine line between traction and bogging the motor down :-) besides, I already have the rear spoiler remember?  I am running the rear deck on a angle to get downforce on those long straightaways at Cap City.  What colours did you pick up?  Are you still going aqua and vanilla?

Aqua and white.  I painted a fender tonight.  Couldn't wait to clean up the shop and get it ready for paint, just broke out the paint gun and fired away!

Delicious!  That's how it looks.  Can hardly wait for the weekend so I can paint it up all nice and pretty!

Of course I'll be posting pictures then!  (Your welcome Steve... :D)
