New division
« on: April 01, 2015, 01:51:10 pm »
There is a new division in the works, basically it will start out as step between the bando and the Current Legend car. The car will be a Legend car with a 600cc two cylinder sealed engine. I am not sure of the exact age range or exact details of the program. I like the concept, hopefully it will get a lot of the used cars that are just sitting around back on the market. I really see this growing unlike a couple other trial and errors in the past. I really think you could see it expanded for a lot of age ranges, a lot of guys don't care to be on the edge, tires will last longer along with other components that wont be as abused. Just my opinion, but I think this one is a good one.

I agree. As long as the rest of the car is the same, it makes great sense. When people want to move up, just swap the motor out and there you go

Dwarf Cars do this at some tracks. I think, peronally, that it would make for a good transition.
I really do hope this one comes through!

Is this an air or water cooled twin?  Just curious... :)

I really see this expanding to other ages. I know a lot of mostly older guys that aren't as serious and would have a lot of fun in this division and do it a little cheaper.

I can absolutely see this as a positive and negative.

Positives:
  • Get drivers familiar with motorcycle engines/transmissions/shifting
  • Get teams and drivers familiar with 4 wheel suspension and legends cars in general

Negatives (speculation):
  • Aren't these things going to be slower than bandoleros on 1/4 miles??
  • Obviously we don't know the starting price yet, but shouldn't they be similar to current legends since they are using bike motors as well?

Positives:
- If indeed a water-cooled engine, engine should last much longer than current air-cooled versions.
- As long as pricing isn't out of line, the extra longevity will be well worth it.
- And me being an old guy and a budget racer, I may switch over to it.

Happy Easter to all!

Agree with your positives.

NO, they are still much faster than a Bando.
As far as cost of a NEW car... I would think (at least for now) that the engine cost would be lower.
My question is if this will be a sealed engine program.

I'm going to say it will still be a pretty penny for a new sealed motor.

$2500 would be nice. With $1000 to 1500 for a rebuild.

I too would drop down in a heartbeat if I was allowed.

Uncut tires would be nice too. Make them as originally intended, last most of the season.
