Fender trimming
« on: March 20, 2015, 12:42:49 pm »
Hey guys,

I see a lot of racers trimming their Ford front fenders out away from the engine for more clearance. I've looked in the rulebook and haven't seen much about it. I take it that this is ok to do?

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Eric

Well, what do you know.
I made a mistake, my bad.
Guess its been a couple years since I read the fiberglass portion of the rulebook that closely.

Thanks guys, I missed that, guess I should have looked more closely.  ;D Heres the rule per the 2015 rulebook;

"Trimming -The only trimming allowed on the inside edge of the fender will be for engine clearance (air breathers, header, etc.) this trimming must be done 16” above the frame rail on the front clip along the contour of the fender, and may only be trimmed in 3” from the edge. The inside of the fenders near the grille, the edge of the fenders near the body shell, and the bottom edge of the front of the fender may not be trimmed."
