« on: October 12, 2013, 05:12:39 am »
Hi, im looking to get in to legends racing in the UK, just wondering if anyone knows if US and UK cars, specs and rules are the same?
It will be tarmac circuit racing if that helps.
Thanks

Yes.
We have several members in the UK. Your best bet would be to go into the pit area and talk with some of the drivers.

I run on the uk ovals I think the only difference is the back box on the exhaust, we have different noise regs in the uk, I may be wrong as I don't race on the circuits but going on recent events with Mallory I'm sure they'll be doing something to make cars quieter again, it's getting beyond a joke in the uk with noise restrictions

Not  a lot different here in the States. Noise is a problem area here as well.

Do you have a lot of noise restrictions in place in the us? Can only run at certain times of the day or x amount of races on certain weekends?

It all depends on what city or state you are in, every town gets to make their own rules.
For example, our home track, noise cannot exceed 90 decibels measured 100 feet from the edge of the tracks property.

Thanks for all the replies, i was worried things like brakes, engine specs, suspension etc would be different.
I have a friend that ships a lot of stuff from C
alifornia to the U.K, might see if i can find a good race ready car there.

Been looking on various sites today for a car, seems to be a lot of asphalt and dirt oval cars, can these be modified for circuit racing? Is it just a case o suspension and tyres or is there more to it?
Seems to be a big variation in price, must be a reason for this?
Sorry for all the question, its all new to me after years of two wheelers.

thanks

Dirt cars take more abuse, so they usually sell for less

Age of the car, condition and spare parts play into price.
I know deafoldgit (Martin) here on the site just recently bought a car over there. He was leasing a car before his purchase.
That may be an option to look into.

I have two 37 Chevy sedans here in Northern California that are both road race cars and both are for sale. One car is the highly sought after "two bar" sedan chassis and the other is the newer style 4 bar car.

There are parts that have to fitted for the uk circuit cars, the reverse gear is one and I'm sure that you have buy that particular one from them as it's approved by the circuit governing bodies( again I race oval so could be wrong) I heard this is an exspensive part so maybe worth while buying a uk car with it already fitted, also check to be sure you don't have to buy your car/parts from the dealer who runs the circuit legend here in the uk, on the ovals we have to buy all the parts and cars from one place, talk to some of the guys in the pits or go see them at the autosport show in January
