Help with oil puck adapter..
« on: April 27, 2013, 11:46:10 pm »
Have a remote oil filter setup, and have the oil puck with the two lines coming out of it.   I bought a used puck, and the center screw in adapter separately , and too make a long story short, the center fitting was not long enough, and apparently only had a few threads holding it on the motor.   Tonight it blew the oil puck completely off the back of the motor, pulling  the few threads it was connnected with out of the block with it.

I still have threads left in the block, but my question is can you buy different length center sections from someone for these oil pucks.  Maybe one of the dealers would know.   Need a longer one now to get to the remaining threads and get Enough threads to screw it back onto the block.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

the threads of the center screw should be just about even to the end of the puck...

How long, from the bottom of the hex to the end of the threads is the bolt you have?

Just got home and saw your post,

From the bottom of the hex to the end of the threads is 1 3/8" long.  Do you have any that are longer than that?  How does this compare to any that you have?

Again, thanks for any help.

It's Nate, but yeah it is.... It's not the puck, I bought a new center fitting, and it didn't screw into the block far enough..... Never thought twice about it, just screwed it on and thought it was all fine.  Come to find out, it was only in the block by a couple of threads.

It basically broke the threaded center piece sticking out of the block flush with where the outer edge of the oil puck sits.....if I can find a longer center fitting, I can use the threads still in the block, it just has to be longer to reach them.

I'll post a pic to help here soon.

hey guys lets look at what nate is saying.. "it broke the piece off the back of the motor"  does not the puck inner o ring seal off both sides of the puck so oil goes out and in the motor separately.? i think there is more of a problem than just using a longer fitting..

Just talked to Hank Scott, great guy, helped out a bunch.  He said the inner o-ring doesn't have to seal, makes no difference, the oil will still stay separated by the fitting, and is sealed by the o-ring in the groove within the puck.  I'm going to take the puck to a guy here and shorten it, to gain the extra threads I need to get into the block.

Why not get the right length bolt ?

Do they sell that center fitting in different lengths?  It acts as the bolt that holds the puck on there.  I haven't seen it in different lengths, but if there were that would be great...... save a lot of effort.
