Spare tires in trailer
« on: February 21, 2013, 11:20:01 am »
Right now we have our spare tires to our car sitting on the floor in our trailer. I want to maximize space and mount them to the wall of the trailer. I've seen how some other racers do this, but I haven't found where to buy something to work. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I have seen both the flip down and fixed wall mount on ebay in the past.
Personally, I think you can make something yourself and save alot of money, depends on how fancy you want to get.
Here is what was in the trailer I just bought, probably cost $15 and a half hour to make, and it did the job for him.

Just remember, the higher off the floor it is, the more in the way it will be when you're rushing around

If you really prefer to purchase a rack, see link below...

I broke out the welder and made wall mounts that the wheels just bolted to with 2 lug nugs.  Got the tires off the floor and not on the "tire" either.  I had a small 6X12 and needed all the floor space I could find

Ed at Bandostuff.com sells a tire rack or just the ends and plans.
Pretty simple actually.

I got the ones from bandostuff.com I like them but I have hit my head when the car is in trailer. But the tires go in and out very nicely when I am in a hurry.
Thanks Cody

I have an open trailer, so don't have this issue.
I do plan to add a tire rack though. Just going to weld up my own.
I would suggest mounting your tire rack to the front of an enclosed trailer.
If you are working on the car in the trailer, I would think it would be more out of the way.
Just my thinking.
