gear ratio for bandalero
« on: September 04, 2012, 06:33:17 pm »
Would anyone happen to know which gear ratio to use other then the standard on a bandalero, track is in Waterford CT 3/8 asphault oval.  We are trying to get the car to go faster.   No one will help or give us ideas.  I do agree with someone earlier it harder to get bando info then it is to get goverment secrets.

Waterford has a gear rule which I think is a total of 4 gear combo's. Do you have the list?
Send me an e mail. I will tell you what we ran last year.

At the  "Speedbowl"  the gear rule is  14/64=4.57, 15/69=4.60,13/60=4.62,14/65=4.65
Go with the lowest, It keeps the RPM's down and not spinning it up with no HP increase.

I think I am inclined towards the 14/64. Should give you more acceleration off the turns.
15/69 might give you a little more top end, but you will lose some acceleration in the process.

Quick and dirty explanation:  Going to a larger front sprocket (clutch) increases top speed. Going to a larger rear sprocket (axle) increases acceleration. Try to match your ratio so that you keep the engine in the "fat" part of the powerband curve.
