Brakes Dragging (I think...)

(1/2) > >>

CC57:
Wondering how much drag is on your rotors (front and rear).

When I remove my tire/wheels and try to "spin" the rotors, the rotor may make a 1/2 turn or slightly less before stopping.

Is this the norm? Or are my brakes not floating properly? Am I experiencing too much contact between the rotors and pads, possibly due to the caliper sticking?

Thaks all

VMS Motorsports:
Check to make sure your nut isn't too tight on the hub, thats more likely than a caliper dragging...

I would also check to see if rotors and calipers are parallel.
Are you running a propotioning valve? Or a residule pressure valve?
When were the calipers last rebuit? Could be sticking.
If all seems to be OK, you could turn the rotors slightly to clean them up and gain a little clearance.

 Just some random thoughts.

6th Geer:
Sliders, sliders ,sliders.... did i mention sliders.
they are very important. we remove ours every race and clean them with brake cleaner.
these are the 2 small pieces of steel, one on top and bottom of the caliper.
if they get gunked up they can keep the caliper to one side causing excessive drag.
the idea of these sliders is to keep the caliper and pads floating around the rotor. not bound against it.
Good luck to you.

6th Gear,

I have a brass look coming through the metal(sliders). Does this mean that they are worn out? I also had a bad drag on the right front and this is the only thing that I could find. Thanks
