Oil Pan Obstructing Steering Shaft
« on: May 02, 2012, 07:55:18 am »
Anyone ever ran into this problem?  I just installed a new motor in a car and the oil pan has a "tit" right next to the oil plug that is right in the way of the steering shaft.  It appears from the motor that i pulled out that this was ground down.  I plan on doing the same, but just wondering what everyone else has done.

Had the same problem on mine. You have to shorten the steering shaft section that goes onto the rack and legthen the middle section that goes into the car. This will drop the shaft and leave you plenty of room.

It comes off in seconds with a cutoff wheel and its not a structual item so cut it off.

Racecar spelled backwards is racecar. Racecar upside down is expensive.
