Dirt Wheels?
« on: March 30, 2012, 10:53:17 am »
So, what is everyone on the dirt doing for new wheels now?
I have heard from multiple people that the new 13lb Bassett does not hold up well on rough tracks.
All of the other brands I have checked are all 13-15lb wheels also, which would be illegal under the latest published rule book, but that does not take into account the lighter weight of the  American Racer tires.
Has anyone found a good, heavier wheel that can take the abuse, or do you have to buy the USLC brand wheels for dirt?

The 13lb aeros seem to work well on the dirt, I saw a few cars running them not to long ago 8)

But wont they be illegal?
Otherwise why would USLC go through the trouble of Stamping and Stickering the 13lb Bassett?
Hope we get a rule book soon...

I was told at USLC that they would be legal if stamped no matter if they are below the minimum weight.

Yep. The aeros are stickered too. They were stickered before the light bassetts showed up iirc. I would imagine that you're probably going to bend a wheel from contact on dirt before you bend one on a rut.

I guess I'll have to see what the 2012 rule book says if it ever gets printed
