Dirt Setup
« on: February 07, 2012, 11:40:07 pm »
Hey Guys,

I am struggling with my setup for a 1/4 mile medium banked dirt/clay track. The car seems to always be a bit tight and the front pushes. My current spring settings are as I got the car which are:

Current:

LF                            RF
225                         either 225 or 250(not marked)

LR                           RR
175                         185

Im thinking of swapping the front springs around for this weekend to try to help a bit, after that I am thinking of a getting a 150 spring and using the following combo.

New:
LF                            RF
225                         185

LR                           RR
175                         150

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.

Thanks
Linden

Looks like I am way to heavy all the way around than. With the 140 on the left rear would that make it tight?

Any body have preference on spring brands or they are all the same?

with the 140 LR and 160 RR, it will loosen it up quite a bit

Ahh sorry you are right.

Jim what are your thoughts on springs? I'll be buying them from you after all ;)

Springs are springs, I haven't seen much of a difference between brands as far as actual rate vs advertised rate.
Most brands have a warranty, but it only covers free height

What about the spring rates. Is the 150 RR is ok or do you think the 140 LR and 160 RR, then move the 175 and 185 to the front.

I usually run:

LF 185  RF 200
LR 162  RR 145

That gives me a pretty neutral car.
I swap the rears side to side if I want to loosen it up for a particular track.
