I've started doing that too. After coming off the track I'll have the fan in front of the oil cooler for a few minutes with the engine at idle before shutting it off and putting the fan on top.

Just looking at some pics from charlotte,  do all the holes cut at the rear  of the front fenders help pull air through the engine compartment?  Ralize it can cool the brakes, but seems as it would also allow more flow of air through the engine compartment.

I think that might have a little to do with that, but I think it has more to do with getting rid of the air thats trapped in the fender.
