dumb trailer question
« on: July 11, 2011, 09:12:26 am »
I have question about trailer ramp. I have seen those aluminum ramp helper boxes on the back of a trailer. The ones to lessen you ramp angle. I can't find where to get them and really don't know what they are called to do a proper search. If any one knows where you get them or what they are called can please let me know.

Sorry Scott, I don't know the proper name for them either. Just thinking you could build some yourself for fairly cheap.

I used to have to jack up the front of my trailer to load my mod because the angle was too steep.
Thanks for the link Vince. I didn't think about Northern Tool. Perhaps Harbour Freight also.

Perhaps build some longer ramps or extend your ramps with some support boxes underneath? ???

That was was what I was thinking Steve. I know I have seen the aluminum boxes on the back of the trailer doors. I can build my own  longer ramp flap once I mount the ramp riser on the back of the trailer. I really needed a internal dove tail on my trailer. Thanks for all the responses.

Aluminum would be a lot lighter weight-wise. Don't know if you can do that yourself  (or have someone that can weld something up for you).  Is your problem flexing of the ramp or just to steep?

Yea Steve my problem is that the threshold is to step of a angle so I have to jack the trailer tong up every time. Thanks Vince that is what I was looking for.

We made extensions for the rubber feet that are bolted to the door to raise them up 4" then built ramps that are 3' long that hing where the flap was.  This has worked great on all of my race cars.
