karting scales vs. Car scales???

kinda looking at buying a set of scales soon, I'm b0rrowing a set now, and probably should get my own....

Does anyone use the  "karting" scales that have a capacity of 400 lbs. per pad?  With our total weight being at 1300 we are below the max of 1600.  Looking at my numbers I am always somewhere in the low 300's for each wheel weight.

  I have found some good deals on these types of scales, just wanted to see if anyone has used these, or if I should keep looking for the car scale versions.

we use the kart scales on our quarter midget and they are just like the big ones but the wires are much shorter. if you use them you will have to have the head unit way under the car.  cody

I have kart scales that I use and they work great.... problem is the pad size.  Once you get the kart scales you may have to contact the manufacturer to see if they can get you larger pads.  If you try and use the smaller ones and they're off from the center of the tire just a little bit it'll throw your numbers way off.

what kind of kart scales do you have? my scales are longacres and the wires would be wat to short. cody

I use cart scales and cut some 2x12 boards and used them as roll off pads

Problem with kart scales is as stated above... Shorter cords and smaller pads.
