Seats
« on: June 09, 2011, 08:32:33 pm »
Hello All,

I was wondering what you guys thought the best seat was. I'm on the large size (6 foot 290 pounds) so I would need something on the big side. Any recomendations?

Thanks :)

Lajoie, i've got one and its a great seat, just beware that their customer service could be a bit better and if you get the diamond series seat it doesn't come with a seat cover

I don't think a LaJoie would fit in a Legend in the size he would need...not sure though

I used a 17" LaJoie last week in the car I drove on asphalt. It worked great and I have to say I liked it better than my seat.

I know in the kirkey full containment seats 17" was too big for mine...  I bought a 16" lajoie and love it.  Like sitting in a lazyboy...

In the standard seats, you'll be able to fit a larger seat, the car I bought had a larger standard seat in it.

You're most likely going to have to go with a Kirkey or something along those lines. Can still get all the head, shoulder, rib, thigh  protection options, but I can't see a Lajoie or any other big $$ full containment in the size you would most likely need (coming from a 6'1" 265lb guy when I started in Legends, so I feel i can say that without offending. My apologies if offense is taken).
The Lajoie is great, Would love to be able to afford one, but even if I could, I'm 99% sure I wouldn't be able to fit one in my ,car in my size, with all of the side impact bracing they incorporate. Don't get me wrong...you can sit your ass on the highway in the seat and get hit by a dump truck and walk away, but us big boys don't have all the options the 99 pounders do.

LOL!
I added head and shoulder supports as well as leg braces to my standard seat. Overkill for my use... But a dang comfortable fit!
Using my walker for left sideweight.  :D

Price-wise, the Kirkey seat is a good seat. Lajoie is nice but tend to be a bit pricey.

The Richardson from 600 Racing through my dealer was a pretty good deal when I got it a couple years ago.  Not sure of the current pricing.  Even if you do not go with a full containment, you can always upgrade a standard seat with good head braces and shoulder braces if they will fit.
