Very fast response from Scott:

"We will just need to play some of these things by ear to see what the new tire does. The 58 number was a batch that was on the dock here, there may be a difference in our durometers or even a difference within a “batch” of tires.

I will do a little research on this to see what I can come up with.

Thanks,

Scott Reinhardt

Hey Jim!

I think I know why your new tires durometer out softer than others.  Must be from spilling that gallon jug of tire softener I saw floating around in back of your SUV...LOL ;D

I think Jim either needs to mount them or get a new gauge. Mine come in at 60, 62.

I tried the new tires out today. ran about 35 or 40 laps. showed alittle bit of wear on the right rear and right front.  got some temp in them, that worrys me about blistering the tires. my right rear was about 160 in temp, after about 10 solid laps. are track was very dusty slick and windy here, did not have alot of water on the track at all. you have to get back in the gas quick because these tires have alot of grip and it wants to pull you to the right when entering the corners. It does make the guy that runs ok before, alot better now. It was kinda hard to pass. when i went out on my normal air pressure in my tires the car seemed to be real good, i tried dropping the rear tires some one time , that way i could build up air pressure, that didnt work. my car was all over the place. if you guys run alot of left rear bite in your car, your probably going to want to take some out. these tires bite, but you can still break the tires loose to and spin the s**t out of them.  But overall i like them so far, some of are guys didnt, but its going to be one of those things that takes alittle bit to get the right feel for your car with these tires.

How did it affect your gear. I assume you ran at Springfield and had a 390. Thanks

Got  mine mounted and installed on the car. A tip for mounting, fully expand or strech out tire and leave sit for a  while.  I let mine sit overnight and had no problems mounting them. I was able to mount and air up without using a bead blaster.  Once mounted on the car I did have to trim the right rear fender, left rear seems to be ok. I also took some laps around the neighborhood  ;) and did not seem to have any clearence issuse with the exhaust.

Bead blaster????
Starting fluid and a match will do the same thing. Just be ready to kick the fire out when you dont get the mix correct.

Thanks for the advice. Opened up a brand new Longacre Durometer today, and my 6 tires are:
50
50
50
51
51
52
...even better than I thought.  ;D

Scott

I ran the 390 at springfield and it worked great, but the track was slick and dusty, im sure when its alittle tacky it will be alittle to deep.

This tires are even softer when you get some heat in them. Jim, with them that soft already, make sure and set your car up loose, because if your car is tight the only way you can get the car to turn is get n the gas, then you will really burn and blister your tires. one of are guys had his car to tight and he basically ruined a tire in about 30 laps, he isnt going to have to many more night on that tire left!  its going to be interesting here when the track takes rubber. we probaly wont have a right rear left!!! thas why i thought it would of been nice if there would of been at least 2 or 3 different compounds you could buy, everybody doesnt run on the same dirt surface.... but that would of been more expensive then they already are im sure...
