Pretty simple, the white plastic engine piece is the ground of the light circuit. So, you just put 12v to the bulb and use the engine piece as the ground.

Remember that this is a very old thread, 2012! I have to see if my old computer still works. I had all that information on that computer.
The system that Gill rigged up was a series of lights that would come on as the car was shifted through the gears. Seriously outdated in this day and age!
USLC has a digital gear indicator available. I think the cost around $250 or so. I have seen some used ones on some of the Facebook pages. DanH designed a really cool system that tested out as very accurate and very strong compared to USLC's parts. He hasn't been around the site in years. Not sure if I can still get in contact with him or not.
