That is dumb. I'm glad I'm not going now. So they want us dirt guys to buy tires and they don't want to? For those of you that have never ran federals on dirt they DO NOT WORK. In fact they are dangerous. It will not be a good showing for Legends on dirt. They really need to rethink this before someone pulls a tire off and gets hurt. Just my 77 cents worth.

Agree. Running at Eldora for us dirt guys is like running at a big race on asphalt for the asphalt guys. And running on a dirt 1/2 mile for asphalt guys is not safe. Not saying ashalt guys can't drive I'm just saying dirt is way different than asphalt. Some dirt guys didn't even want to go to Knoxville because they thought the speed on dirt in these cars would be too fast.

If they run the AR the speeds will be faster for sure BUT you will have control. These tires have made dirt racing with Legends some of the best racing I have seen. The federal tires just do not work on the dirt. Guys tried them out in Springfield at the Nationals and they were going flat sometimes before they got two laps on them. The bead lock didn't help either. Lets face it this being put on by some asphalt guys that don't want to buy tires. You are right about the track though. This is one of the best and historic race tracks in the country. I always like to say it is the Daytona of dirt tracks. If some came and decided to run the AR's they would lap the field every two laps wouldn't that be a great show. I know they wouldn't let you run them though. Sorry for getting a little worked up it is just a shame that it is not going to be run correctly. I bet a lot of cars that were going from PA will not go now.

I will try and find out this weekend but I think you could run AR tires but just wouldn't be eligible for payouts (not that it will be much).

I can see both sides of the issue here.  I'm an asphalt guy but I want to try dirt.  I like the rule just because it's cheaper for me!  But if I was a dirt guy I would be a little upset about this.  Now me trying dirt for the first time on a track like eldora......thats why I am nervous and haven't fully decided if I am going to run or not........

Scott.. you're not the only one upset when hearing about the Fed tire deal there. You know as well as I do that it isn't a good thing and it is your instinct of comon sence  to say something for the safety of others. LOL, they would be safer on an old hard set of BFG tires !! I hope nobody goes there thinking camber cut tires will work too.... NOT !!  Maybe if the groove gets all rubbered up so it looks like asphalt before they run on it. Some days I wonder if Legends Cars are going in the right direction....

2nd in my heat and 2nd in the feature last night in Farley Iowa. I only went Thursday night, I couldn't make the Wednesday night race. I picked up that track really quick. I thought it was fun challenging track to run with 1 and 2 being so different from turns 3 and 4.
