So, practice  was cancelled again today, and it's currently snowing. Just checked the 7 day forecast and it's supposed to rain every day and not get above the mid 40's...would bet no practice next week either.

How's everyone else doing so far this year?
My car still isn't together, but slowly getting there.
Hoping to paint tomorrow, but most likely won't get to.

The Irish Samsport driver Niki Meredith travelled to Scotland for their first round of the 2011 Championship (road circuit) and came home with a win  :)

CONGRATULATION Niki and Ed!!!
We don't get a lot of results from our bretheren across the pond. Always good to get news of how things are going!

I wonder if my wife would let me pack my car in the suitcase if we ever go to Ireland on vacation.  :)

Your car would likely pass through airport security with no problems. You, on the otherhand...

Jim,

Do what you can. Not worth breaking the bank, or selling off the kids. Well, OK; Maybe selling one or  two...  :)
I hope that all is going well.

Ready to race (minus the BFG tires seeing as i didnt want to risk puncturing a new tire riding it up and down the road a few times..)

Just got home from Tipton, Iowa, first race of the year for DJ and i. Made the 3.5 hr trip down there and the track looked pretty good, and it was, and fast. After 2 laps of hot laps my throttle cable came loose and the motor cut out. I thought it was going to be a simple fix. Tightened the throttle cable up after getting towed to the pits and the motor had no spark. Had numerous people looking over the car and we couldn't figure it out. Missed the heat race and was searching for over 1.5 hrs to find the problem. Checked all the wiring, replaced some wires, everything was tight...still no spark. Finally after thinking we had looked over and changed everything i reach my hand down and feel the small 8mm bolt grounding a wire is hand loose......tightened it up and the motor fired right up. By then it was feature time and having only 2 laps on the track it was kind of a guess for setup. DJ gave me some tips after having a real good run in his heat until spinning. Track was really dry and dusty. Started 14th, worked my way up to around 7th and the car felt real good, thought i'd have a good shot for a top 5. Had a hard time trying to pass a car and the car was getting pretty free. After numerous cautions the race was called at i believe 16 laps, finished 11th. DJ started 10th, finished 3rd. 20 cars showed up so i was happy to get 11th after avoiding all the wrecks and having problems earlier in the day.....The car sure was fast until i had a loose brake line and had brake fluid leaking onto my RR tire. That sure made it loose as the track was real dry to start with. Overall i was impressed with how the car handled (other than the brake line issue) and the tires were fast and forgiving. Looking forward to a fun 2011. Definitely impressed with what we have going with the setup right now, good start to the year. Thought DJ was on his way to his first feature win, i think i could have been up front duking it out if it wasn't for the problems as i mentioned  :)

Ethan,

Sounds like a rough day. Good finish overall, considering the troubles and lack of track time.
Congratulations to DJ on the 3rd place finish!

Looking forward to watching your progress this season.
I hope you pick up where you left off last season. Seemed like things were getting good towards the end of last year.

Best Of Luck!

Ethan,

Seeing it was dry and dusty, how much did your tires wear?
