Valve cover breathers

On the valve covers there is breather caps... Do the rubber caps stay on or is it easier for a hose to be run of of them.. I saw a pic with what looked like hoses..

Engine Spec Rules in #2 Carburetors states "Using rocker arm covers
with breather hoses in both covers is allowed."

Thanks .. i was really wondering what size hose is good to use?

What size is the opening for the breather cap?
My thinking is to weld nipples to the openings, attach hoses to the nipples, then "Y" the hoses together and put a breather cap on that.
Make sense?

The hose on the stock valve cover breather is 1/2".  Some connect a breather to the crankcase outlet under the carb.  I  bought a Bando with a 1/2" hose connected front and the rear valve covers.  Thought there might be something to this so I made a tank with 2 outlets mounting above engine level rear of the LR tire and connected hoses from both valve covers.  It was a lot of trouble and in the end I don't think it made a bit of difference.

If you do add a hose to the rear valve cover, add a baffle to keep oil from splashing directly into the hose.  You can drill and tap the side of  the valve cover and use a 1/4" NPT hose barb then weld in a baffle.  You could also use small screws to mount a baffle.
