You, like every other track in the country, are loosing racers due to the costs of racing, car count and the spectator count. The economy bites!!! A "True Outlaw" class would put costs well above the cost of a stock Legends Car.
A stock Bando engine from USLC costs $1,595.00 (+ shipping) according to their site (may be outdated). Stock B&S engine puts out about 20 hp. What rules currently allow for upgrades put that figure closer to 30 hp. Lets throw in another $1,000+ and machine work to up the horsepower. Tire upgrades and or prep (seriously put a crimp in the kart racing world). Add to that lack of front suspension and brakes. So, upgrades to make the chassis safe at the higher speeds would be necessary. More bucks!!! (Some parents are concerned about the speed as it is!) Sure, some tracks run restrictor plates and/ or have gear rules. Still, parental concerns will far outweigh the benefits of a hopped up Bando Car. Your putting the Bando car in a class that would price itself right out of the market. Besides; Kids grow up and will no longer fit in the small confines of the Bando Car.
I'm still going to say that " it would be fun to see a true "Outlaw" class!" I just don't see it as a happening thing. There are plent of 4 cylinder classes, that use stock componets, if one were worried about moving to a Legends Car. My Modified was a scream!!!! Only at $10,000 per engine it got a bit pricey. lol! Priced me right out of racing mods! Bandos, Legends, 4 cylinder, "Street Stock" or "Pure Stock" (as they are called in some areas) are by far cheaper. If one was that worried about costs, you could run the family sedan in SCCA solo (auto cross) events. They even have classifications for modifications to the family car.
We have one kid that runs a racing go kart.
An "Outlaw" Bando".... Just don't see it!!!
