Crankcase Breater Vapor
« on: March 05, 2010, 10:56:42 am »
Hey Guys,
How much crankcase vapor is normal for a 1250 engine?  Also, Is it normal to have engine oil mist coming out of the breather at high RPM?  The oil level is about 1/3 up the glass with the engine idleing.   I do not have a oil catch can at this point, but considering installing one.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Thanks.

What kind of oil are you running? It sounds like to me you are running non-motorcycle oil and you are getting some foaming.

Hey Scott,
Thanks for replying.  Sorry for the slow response, been out of my office a coulple of days.  I am using a motorcycle oil that Im buying at Advanced Auto.  I dont remember the brand right off the top of my head.  I dont know if I just overfilled the crankcase or what but it seems as though Im getting some oil blowing through the crankcase breather filter.  I am probably going to put a catch can on the firewall if it continues to exhaust some oil from there.
