Welcome to the site Chancellor.

Steve,
The only way I figure that you could be in racing this long and not know how to weld is that you must not crash much.  ;)  Glad to see that you will have someone that can help you with all of your projects.

John

LOL!
I had always been fortunate enough to have friends to do the welding for me. Unfortunately, they move away (Bad Economy) or Die (Old Age).

I just wanted to take a moment to congratulate Jeff Steenbergen (Racinjj) on his impressive first race in his new Modified. Jeff won the B main and started 16th and finished 6th in the 20 lap, caution free A main.

Great Job Jeff...Nice looking car, I must say  ;)

So far after two races. Been a pretty good start. Never raced a car and even though the car count has been low I'm very pleased the way te year has started. First race at Carolina finished 2nd and even lead a couple of laps....and then this past sat at East Lincoln tore the car up in hot laps and still managed to get a win. Wasn't the fastest by no means. Running third and the leaders got together with 3 to go and was able to hold off the pack. 2 career starts a win and a second. Very pleased!

Well, even with low car counts, it is still a very good start. Congratulations!

We have run 3 rounds of the 2010 UK Oval Track Legends season, and I have been classified as a Rookie for this season, due to 9 years away from the cars.  I have therefore had to start all races at these 3 rounds from the back of the grids.  I am leading the Rookie Championship by almost double the points of the 2nd place driver, and currently 3rd in the UK INEX Semi Pro points with 202 points from the 3 rounds, having qualified for all 3 features.

We start the next round on Monday 3rd May (a public holiday over here) from the front group of drivers, and are hoping for some race wins that day.

The 17 is running and ready for fiberglass.
Having an issue with the primary engine in the 01, hopefully that will be cleared up by Saturday.

Finishing 01's brakes and then starting bodywork tomorrow...should be all set for the first race of the year on May 8th.

Glad to have you back full time Steve...I should post a picture of the dash board for you...
Dan requested woodgrain to be more period correct, and I got ahold of some burlwood vinyl...still dont know if I like it but its there for the year  :D

Jim,

Sounds like you all have been busy.  Are you still running some go karts?
The wood dash sounds cool! Lots of those old cars had them. Had an old '63 Triumph TR3A with wood dash.
As far as period correct.... A lot of the cars from the 20's and 30's had wood dashes (or, at least wood insets).

It is good to be back!!!!!
I missed being here everyday. I hope I can still be of some help  not only to the site  but to some of the new members.

I'm still interested in pics and how everyone is doing.  ;D (heavy on those pics!!!  ;) )
We all like to see what everyone is running and how their season is going.

For those that are interested, Rhonda and I are doing good. It has been a trying past year. Rhondas' hand surgery went well. (Can't say the same about our bank account)
I did manage to come up with a couple of bikes to power my race cars, a 1000 Kawasaki and an 1100 Yamaha. I am going to talk with the local SCCA club on Saturday about my cars. Should be interesting to see what class I have to run in. Not a lot of purpose built race cars here. Rhonda is game to run one of the cars. Should be fun!
