Gearing
« on: September 20, 2009, 03:27:42 pm »
Plan on running a bando at Lowe's 1/5 mile this winter for my youngest.
Could I get some ideas for a good gearing for a flat 1/5 to start with.
thanks
Rob

Rob,

Iwould try a 13-63   go up or down 1 tooth at a time on the rear gear until you  hit your chip at the end of the straight.

Good luck!!

we use that same ratio (13 - 63 ) on the 1/4 mile track at lowes, sorry I mean Charlotte motor speedway, and hit the limiter at the end of the straights

IF you are hitting the limiter right before you have to lift for the turns, then you are right there!
IF you are hitting the limiter before you get to the let off point, then you need to adjust slightly.
Sounds like you are in the ball park.

Best Of Luck!

Which way?  Up or down, currently running a 13/64. Hitting rev limiter apprx 1/2 way down back stretch, should we change to. 13/63?
Thanks, Chase Heath/Wayne Heath (dad)
